A man on a red tractor pulls his red New Holland Baler across the hayfield, heading away from the viewer

New Holland Baler

Medium: Oil on Canvas
Size: 48 x 32 x 2
Price: $6,500.00 USD

A man works with his New Holland baler. I saw this scene in Coshocton County as I drove home from my teaching job in Coshocton. I often took a backroad through the countryside rather than the 4lane. It was late May or perhaps early June. I caught the scene out of the corner of my eye and stopped there in the middle of the county road and  captured it with my phone.

As a teen I worked for the local farmers helping to put up hay for 25 cents an hour plus lunch. It was hard heavy work. I followed balers just like this one picking up the bales and lifting them onto the wagon. Very few farmers use a rectangle bale now, the large round bales have mostly replaced them. The round bales are moved about by tractor, eliminating the work crew.
